Such fun, with the heart-wrenching realities of aging sprinkled in lol I absolutely adored all of these characters, and the writing was so lovely. The mystery was fun, too! Lots of fun twists and turns.

There are two very brief moments where the readers witness the inner narrative of someone losing their grip on reality:

once is due to age

and

once is due to a drug overdose

. The rest of the time when we see dementia or the like, it's played out in other people. The main narrators do not suffer from anything more than mild memory lapses that naturally come with age.

This was kind of a drag to get through— it took forever to get to the damn point and was completely unbelievable in terms of what these old folks were getting away with. The police would not be letting them be THAT involved, let alone get off Scott free after tampering with evidence. I didn’t mind the humor in this though! I thought it was just enough. There was a specific plot twist/reveal that I absolutely knew was coming but I didn’t know how it would play out and it was a little boring/disappointing. Also Grindr mentioned 😐

Three people I know recommended this book to me. If they'd led with how funny it is, I might've read it sooner. On the other hand, if they'd led with how corpse-strewn and emotional it is, I might've read it sooner, too. (Basically, what I'm saying is, if you're going to recommend a book to me, please tell me why you think I'd like it. No matter how much I like you, just telling me, "I liked it" won't convince me.) Anyway. This is a funny, emotional, corpse-strewn mystery, and I liked it a lot.
