To be fair, graphic novels aren't really my 'thing', but I thought this was a pretty good collection.

Even though "The Origin" is the only canonical story in the volume, I still enjoyed the other stories.

5*

We're talking about my most favorite TV show EVER so I am bound to love it.

Well, I don't love love it but it is Buffy and it is canon, pre-Sunnydale and it gives us another insight as to who Buffy was and how she was before she came to Sunnydale. I kinda like that Dawn has been incorporated in there since "the beginning" but it rings a little less true... kinda, but it is still pretty good considering that everyone's memories have been altered in season 5 and Dawn became part of the new reality. Maybe it would have felt weirder had they not included her in the origin stories? I don't know.

The fact every story gives different looks to the characters feels a little bit weird BUT I don't dislike it at all since every artist gave his/her idea as to how the characters look like. And I like that, in the comics, they incorporated demon looking beasties with the vampires. Like green skinned, long ears and red eyes types... you know?!

Overall I really really liked this one. I am giving it a full 5*, which is rare I do this. I may be a bit biased but... what can I say. Anything Buffy will have me want to get it, no matter what, and I will enjoy it completely.

I loved 75% of this, but I found one of the longer stories, Viva Las Buffy!, extremely hard to follow. That is why I am only giving this 3 stars. The story flipped back and forth between the perspectives of Buffy, Pike, and Angelus while trying to balance multiple story-lines and I was confused for most of it.

I'm also not sure why this started with a story about Spike and Dru. I could not care any less about them than I already do so I was mostly uninterested throughout.

Buffy: The Origin and Slayer, Interrupted were awesome comics though. I loved seeing the original movie in comic form. The artwork in both was great, but Slayer, Interrupted was definitely my favorite.

This wasn't what I thought it would be. I thought it was the Season 8 graphic series, but it doesn't seem to be. Rather it's (mostly) the story of the original movie as Joss Whedon wanted it to be. I haven't seen the movie. This is a good story, though, and Buffy does in fact burn down the gym. However, it ends with her feeling quite determined about being the slayer, which doesn't square with the beginning of Season 1. Also, Dawn is in it, so it's apparently a retcon from at least after Season 5. I know, once she existed, she had always existed, but the narrative is a bit twisty there. Still, she was rather cute in this so I didn't mind her. Also apparently Dawn has always been a bit immature. A ten-year-old wouldn't be that into a teddy bear, would she? I don't know, I can't remember anymore.

All's Fair - 2/5
Buffy: The Origin - 4/5
Viva Las Buffy - 3/5
Dawn and Hoopy Bear - 3/5
Slayer, Interrupted - 4/5
Overall - 4/5

I'm not really interested in the Spike and Dru story so All's Fair was a little boring for me. ...Viva Las Buffy was hard to follow at times, especially the Angel story line! Dawn and Hoopy Bear was just ok, but it's short so it didn't outstay it's welcome.

Buffy: The Origin and Slayer, Interupted were great. These are the two longest stories in the omnibus so they kind of out weigh the others for me and make this book worth it.
