Not one likeable character, but definitely intriguing. And the child, Snow, is super creepy. Well written, well constructed, very entertaining.
3.5/4 I liked it, the characters Finn, Taylor, Michael and Lizzie though not particularly likeable it was really interesting reading from each of their perspectives. I enjoyed Finn’s perspective as seeing Taylor through his eyes was quite hilarious at times! I thought it was a well written book and it kept me hooked.
I enjoyed this. I'm having a little trouble pinning down exactly what this novel is, and I think that that's a strength--it was dramatic, it did have some suspense at the end, and some romance (if you want to call it that.) I think the closest it falls into would be suspense, which is not a genre I have experience with, but this was a well-done piece. Even though there were four perspectives through which the narrative was told, Ephron did a great job establishing distinct voices for all of them, so it was easy to follow. One of my pet peeves with multiple points of view, re-hashing the same scene multiple times, was dipped into occasionally, but each character's focus was so different that it never felt repetitive. The ongoing threads of the different relationships along with the interview-like style of the delivery brought intrigue to the piece that keeps you reading. While I had figured out the ending by the 3/4 mark, the execution still kept me questioning. The most interesting part was the interplay of the expectations the characters had for each other, how much they thought they understood each other, and the extent to which they were completely wrong. Solid, intriguing work.

A lot of buildup for somewhat of a lackluster ending. Saw the twist coming early on and the drama that ensued just fell short. I enjoyed the multiple POVs though it made dialogue difficult to process sometimes. Difficult to invest in the characters as they were all a bit unbearable (intentionally). Bonus points for beautiful setting and imagery!

I couldn't get into this. I disliked all the characters - and the formatting in my copy was so weird as to be a major distraction that didn't make me want to go further. A shame, because I love Nora Ephron's stuff and I'd heard good things about this. Just not for me I guess.

Minor: Adult/minor relationship
Just a few uncomfortable descriptions about the relationship between a 10 year old girl and an adult man, including describing their conversation as a "flirtation"
