An interesting set of essays on nature and mankind. I think the last essay was the most powerful and haunting - written in the early '90s, it's prescient and even more relevant to today's world of consumerism, over-population, and increasing species extinction. It should be a must-read for many, many people.

My first Wilson book (shhh don't tell), I found it more technical and academic than expected for a light anthology. Also a bit fussy and vaguely anti-gay/anti-feminist. I did like the chapter on what a termite culture might look like.

A good collection of essays. Dr Wilson lost me in the middle when he gets super academic about culture, but comes back around to readable by the end.
