Really enjoyed this book, felt like both the characters were mature enough that they resolved their issues in one conversation. Found the writing to be quite evoking, strong female lead, overall nice romance book.
Knocked it down a bit considering I finished this like 2 weeks ago and can't remember a single thing that happened or even the plot ->
never mind its the one about the rich girl fake dead best friend whose actually the lawyer prosecuting her predatory father, both have parent issues
slow-paced

By the end of the book I didn’t even care what happened as I got so bored with the storyline.

The beginning of the book was actually really good and I was hooked but then idk it kinda became repetitive and I got bored. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the main characters when they were older compared to when they were younger. Idk if it’s the book that I didn’t like or the writing. I’ll have to read a few of LJ Shen’s book first before I make my conclusions

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5

“So this is what a broken heart felt like. Being stabbed in the soul a thousand times.”

Another amazing LJ Shen book. I still throughly love LJs books. You know what you’re getting when you read her books. Angst. Greed. Power. Wealth. This book is about the boy who fell for the girl he couldn’t have. About the evil slimy Dad who wouldn’t let it happen. Then the story turns to revenge. Lots of twists and turns. Happy how the book ended.

EDIT 01/16/2025: I recently found out this author is a Zionist and their husband served in the IOF. Super disappointing and disgusting.

If you want to read an actual enemies to lovers story, then sure? The banter is explosive and witty. There's actual chemistry between the love interests and I didn't mind it being a slow burn but... The spice levels of this story are barely lukewarm at best. Which is fine but this book was overly hyped up for it.
