7/10 Arya is the rich girl. Her father kicked Nicky, the maid’s son, to the curb for kissing his daughter. Christian, used to be Nicky, now a successful lawyer is determined for revenge but is still in love with Arya.
I expected this to be more romance/spice but am pleasantly surprised by how minimally it focuses on that. It’s their chemistry and angst that’s the focus and I’m not mad about it.

Really enjoyable, but Arya's development for Christian didn't feel that well-fleshed out. They went from cold to hot in an instant switch, but still a fun and fast read overall!

This is the book (different details but basically this story) that I had expected from the sysnopsis of Punk 57.
The childhood friends to to enemies to lovers with a revenge plot and hidden identity - a couple of my favourite tropes all in one, even tho second chance romance isn't normally something I actively pick up.
Yes, Ruthless Rival has flaws and Nicholai/Christian acted like someone desperately wanting to be found out and made a bunch of dumb decisions bc of that. But I really enjoyed this. Also because the idenitiy reveal is relatively late into the book which is a bonus. I see why people might have criticism but personally I loved it.

You guys. When I say this is the creme de la creme of Lj Shen I am NOT KIDDING!!! Lj gave MORE than what had to be gave and I am 1000000% here for it.
Ruthless Rival follows Arya and Christian in both the present and the past. A life changing disaster (in the past) leaves both Christian and Arya angry and yearning for one another. In the present day, Christian and Arya are both rich alpha bosses except one incident causes their worlds to collide once again. This time, however, they are on opposite sides and neither are willing to back down.
The tension. The build up. The slow burn.
