This one got me emotionally wrecked. Unusual in an SEP book. Rachel's such a strong character. I ache for her, but I also admired her strength.

he hates her 5 years old son and treats him like shit until the end when he stars calling him son after he hit that poor kid. and his brothers treat her horribly…actually the whole town does a happy ending for her should have been to leave the hell out of this trash town with all the money.

I cried for rachel eventhough she didnt while going through the hardships. She faced both sympathy and hatred from other people with her witty tongue.

Admito que se me salieron unas cuantas lágrimas. Y amé el libro. Y también admito me arrepiento de no haberlo leído antes y de saltarme el libro por que quería leer el de Kevin y Molly...
Y fue hermoso.

This is my book TO CRY. I remember passages of the book like I've read it yesterday. It left such an impression in me. I felt Gabe and Rachel's dispair in such a potent way. It made me cry so hard. I'll always go back to this book when}I need a bit of extra hope ♥
2021 and I've just re-read this book and it's still my favorite of the saga ♥

This is the most believable of the series so far, not that I need believability in my romance novels, but it's always a bonus.

3.5* In some ways this was a great book. I loved both Gabe and Rachel, for example, and their interactions felt real and honest, if not always comfortable. But I hated the "small town full of narrow-minded bigots" setting, one that I'm really tired of in contemporary romance and romantic suspense. I also didn't care for Gabe's brothers, and although Ethan sort of redeems himself, he was a major hypocrite for much of the book. I liked Cal in the earlier book, but not so much here where he, as so many others, never tries to find out Rachel's real story.
SEP writes beautifully and you won't find any clunky prose or awkward dialog here, so overall it was a good read, just not always fun.
