I enjoyed this story. I like the "Mafia princess and the biker" premise and the fact the MMC hates the FMC's father and wants to kill him. This dynamic is interesting and kept me engaged throughout the story. Even though the MMC wants to kill the FMC's father, he doesn't want the FMC harmed.
I liked that the FMC was strong, intelligent and loyal to her family. She acknowledged her attraction to, and growing feelings for, the MMC, but did not lose her brain in the process. I appreciate that in a Mafia romance.
This has been multiple books now that I have read by this author that I have enjoyed, but has had a large amount of negative reviews. That's not necessarily unusual, but what IS unusual is that I, again, do not understand where a lot of the negative reviews are coming from. Even if I do not agree, I usually can understand the perspective of someone who doesn't enjoy a book that I like. When it comes to this author, it's like people are reading a different book altogether. If you are thinking of reading books by this author, I suggest ignoring reviews and just decide whether the premise interests you or not. If so, read a sample and see if your interest is piqued. If I had listened to reviews of the last few of this author's books that I have read, I wouldn't have read them because reviews mentioned things that I would not have liked. I'm glad I ignored the reviews though because a lot of the things mentioned that I wouldn't have liked were misrepresented in the reviews.

I read this so fast and I don’t even know why. It was fast paced and really simple and easy to understand which made it a fun read. I didn’t really feel a deep connection with either character and didn’t think they felt one with each other either. It felt really physical and very Stockholm Syndromey which I definitely didn’t love. I did enjoy being back in the world and seeing Luca and aria cause they’re one of my favorites. So yeah it did what it needed to do.

By Sin I Rise: Part One
Sins of the Fathers, Book 1
By: Cora Reilly
Narrated by: Wen Ross, Kai Kennicott
After the Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, I was all in when I saw the next generation come out! And boy is it good! Meet Maddox. After seeing his father brutally murdered at the age of 5, he and the motorcycle club his uncle runs is ready to seek revenge. The Vitiello family is going down. What better way than to use the daughter of his father's murderer to get his attention. Kidnapping Marcella seemed like the logical to get Don Luca's attention. But there is so much to this woman. Smart, brave, beautiful, she captures Maddox's heart. This is could be a problem, as the Club has other plans for Marcella. Now Maddox finds himself torn. Protect what he considers his or get the relief he has been looking for since his father's death. What will he do? Twists and turns, Cora Reilly gives us so many, and I am wondering how it 's all going to turn out! I know the ending of this book is surprising to say the least, but I still have so many unanswered questions! Bring on Part 2 to quench the need to know!
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are our story tellers and they know how to bring mafia romance alive. This is suspenseful and action packed and they keep the thrills coming, just with inflections in their voices. But the best is the chemistry between Maddox and Marcella. The real life passion between these two translates right into this couple and it's easy to feel their push pull relationship begin to turn. A fabulous listen and I am looking to hear the conclusion!
