The best ending to Chantal’s and Beni’s story, going to miss them.

This is the second book in The Bennett Duet and it has to be read in order. We follow the story of two souls that weren’t looking for each other but did complement themselves. They fight through the events that followed their story (no spoilers, sorry) just to be together.
Chantal is a very emotional girl that deals with very difficult stuff but she is stronger than anyone gets credit for. Meanwhile, Beni is just goals, he fights with nails and teeth to get the thing he wants the most.
All the feels in this book, kept me going from emotion to emotion and left me devastated.

Dark Reign
The Bennett Duet, Book 2
By: Xavier Neal
Narrated by: Joy Beharie, Tom Haire

What an ending to this duet. Picking up where we left off in the first book, the suspense is high and so is the passion! These two are definitely meant for each other. This book is full of ups and downs, surprises and excitement. We don't know who to trust, but we know that Chantel is a force to be reckoned with and Beni's love is so fierce, nothing will stop him from finding her and keeping her safe. But these two aren't the only characters I love. Miko proved to me what family and true loyalty can be. He is quite the man, and won my heart. Xavier Neal pens this story with strong women(yes, there is more than just Chantel) and I love that they cannot be controlled, are fearless and smart. It's always a plus for me. If you love lots of action, incredible fight scenes, and spice like no other author can write, than grab this duet. It will keep you on the edge and have you falling in love.

Joy Beharie and Tom Haire finish out the duet with their fantastic performances. I love these two together, as they compliment each other. Beharie brings out the strength in Chantel, letting us know that you don't mess with her. I love it! Haire has his Italian down, melting my heart and romancing us with the flow in the story. This is my kind of listen and it's one you shouldn't miss.

Couldn't wait for this book! It brought me back from the edge of insanity to see how it would resolved and it did not disappoint! Beni is the whole man! Never once did he falter in his pursuit of finding Chantal. All the supporting characters made this story and our boo Miko made the biggest sacrifice of them all.....kinda broke my heart too

The book picks up a little after where it left off in Dark Ruler. I am so glad to be back in this world of Benicio and Chantel!

Dark Reign was captivating in wondering what will happen next. The twists, turns, and questions will have you on the edge of your seat while reading. It is nice to see the small changes from Benicio's completely controlling mannerisms to only slightly controlling and being a partner with Chantel. Chantel definitely has to deal with a ton of hard struggles from what she has had happened to her, however, she is just a strong, if not stronger, than she was in the first book. The steaminess is at an all time high. I didn't think these two could be any more hot in the bedroom than they were in the first book, but they are 100%! This book is dark, dangerous, and demanding. It can capture your attention in an instance. I definitely recommend this for all!

I really love getting to read this world. I will miss these characters, but Ill be doing some rereading when I want to come back to these two!

What a great way to end the Bennett duet! This book kept you on the edge of your seat throughout. Beni and Miko had me laughing at times with their banter back and forth. I found myself having tears at times because some parts were emotional. This book was intense and had me so completely captivated I couldn’t put it down! Love the epilogue! So good!

Dark Ruler by Xavier Neal is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Joy Behare and Tom Haire. This is the first book in The Bennett Duet.

This is the third series of Xavier's that I have read and it won't be my last. The relationship between Benicio and Chantal is a bit messy as they figure out how their relationship will work. But you can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ends on a great cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next book in the series Dark Reign to be released on audio so I can get the rest of their story.

Joy and Tom did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, or romantic suspense.

Better than the first but I still struggled with it.

As in the first book, I think this story was too detailed in some instances and all Chantal and Beni did was have long drawn out sex scenes. I still did not get any warm and fuzzies from their relationship.

I still don't like Chantal's character but I grew to understand her more. I loved how she never let Beni treat her like an afterthought, even after what all she'd been through. She needed to heal on her own terms and not be treated like a fragile China Doll.

Miko was the perfect cousin, brother, second and best friend Benecio could have. He also made me chuckle with the things he said in very tense scenes to lighten up the moment. He was loving, thoughtful, and loyal as well as proficient at being Beni's second. It touched me when he thought of bringing Luther's cane to the wedding to have Chantal's father present if only in spirit.

Benecio loved Chantal from the very moment he saw her. He loved how she was straightforward and did not bite her tongue, even with him. He would burn down the world to gain revenge for anything that happened to her and that was what he did when he found out who was responsible for her being taken. The daughters of the Dons would have been perfect wives for him prior to meeting Chantal, but after meeting her, they would not fit the bill at all. In the end, Chantal showed them all why she was the perfect "reigna" to their king.

The conclusion of the duet was action packed. Chantal and Beni’s story continues and both characters continue to grow both together and individually in this book.

This one was more intense than book one and captivated me more. The storyline flowed better. At times I did find it hard to follow the Italian when they spoke a lot of it but I managed.
