Moonlight was a very easy, enjoyable read. I started reading it and realized four hours later I was about finished... The story and characters are those you immediately find yourself liking! Just be warned... Moonlight is one of those books you can't put down until you finish it. Romance, paranormals, and a suspenseful twist! All of my favorites!

I highly enjoy books that are in a series and look forward to reading the next one!

Cute quick read

The book gives you exactly what it is told in its inside cover: a bit of romance, a bit of danger and a quite interesting world. And its world is what impels me to give it 4 stars... because it is quite cool and it is refreshing compared to all those Hollywood movies about werewolves. The characters are nice, even if Kayla is too naive for me. I hope that Lindsey and the rest of the Dark Guardians will get more rounded. The plot is simple but works in a proper way. I am going to read also the next one to see if the series get better or not.

This book just fell a little flat with me. I'm kind of disappointed.
The description makes you think that the whole human race is baring down upon them and they're fighting for their lives when really its a small group (about 4/5) and one rogue werewolf/shapeshifter. Its sort of pathetic really.

I don't mind the girl, can't remember her name without reminding myself... Its.... Kayla, and Lucas. I'm sorry but the love thing is weird. I think he is supposed to be some alluring alpha male and really its just a teenage boy, although he is 'college age' pfft...

A lot of sexism in this book in my opinion. Boys change into their wolves for the first time at 18 while the girls don't until they're 17 because of the 'whole girls mature quicker than boys' and and the girl must have a male with them during transformation otherwise she'll die. What really?? And yet the boy is super and can go through it on their own?!

Will not be continuing this series.

In the first book of the Dark Guardian series, the story follows Kayla through her journey to discover her past, her growing bond with Lucas, the leader of a werewolf pack, and through her transformation into a Shifter for the fist time.

For a light summer paranormal read, I thought this book was good. A little bit easily predictable but a good story with some interesting characters.

Rating: PG
Mild violence and/or action, mild language and sexual references and brief nudity

Reread: June 2013 (and still totally love it for light, fast, YA paranormal romance lit).

Reread: August 2015 (and still awesome...)

I originally read this book about 5-7 years ago. I'm leaving the 5 star rating, but it might be near a 4 star now. I want to leave the rating as is because the first time I read it I believed it was a 5 star. Anyway, there was at least 5 instances of cussing. There is some a 1 or 2 brief discussions of mature topics, so I wouldn't feel comfortable and recommending this to younger teens. I didn't remember until I read a review of a later book, but this includes underage drinking which I hate seeing in YA books.
