Reviews with content warning for Mental illness - Sin amor

This is my first ever experience with Alice Oseman's writing after seeing glowing reviews of her work for months. I can say for certain that I wasn't disappointed. Loveless is a new adult novel about Georgia, a brand new college student who is obsessed with all things love, but struggles to develop feelings for anyone in real life even though she desperately wants to. Spoiler alert: she discovers that she is asexual and aromantic. The story is mainly about Georgia coming to terms with her identity and realizing that platonic love is no less important than romantic love. The book becomes a celebration of platonic and familial love and how those bonds can be just as strong as any romance, if not stronger. This is the first book with an ace or aro protagonist and i could tell that telling this story was really important to Oseman in every word that they wrote.. Though I am not ace or aro, I can totally appreciate the themes I just mentioned and loved how beautifully they were explored. There is so much love and joy in friendship and I wish that it was prioritized more in the YA books I read. I loved the characters in this. They were quirky, cute, and felt really genuine to me. A special shout out goes to Sunil - every time he was in a scene, the scene was made 10x better. The only issue I had was that the beginning was a little slow for me, but once I got into it I finished really quickly. If you like character driven stories based around friendship, pick this up!

This is defiently a book I needed to read! I found the beginning half very hard emotionally to read, the content spoken in this really should be seen more in media and literature! Anyways Alice Oseman once again has done such a brilliant job with this book! I love it so much and will forever treasure this story!

I may update this review later when I've processed my thoughts about it, but suffice it to say that Alice Oseman has produced another winner. I feel like any of the characters she has created could walk through my door right now, flop down on the sofa beside me and have a chat - that's how realistic they are. This book is funny, moving, insightful, and an ode to friendship.
