I greatly enjoyed this novel and all of its descriptions. Perhaps it is because it reinforced my hesitancy towards having children, or the narrator's inability to turn away from that which calls to her. This novel is about a mother finding herself in the most unlikely of places, in the form of a dog. What does it mean to succumb, to revert to animality? This book reminds people that they are animals, and that the line separating humans from animals is imagined. Often violent, absurd, yet incredibly reflective on women's roles, Nightbitch is for all to consume.

The addition of Africa by Toto was not something I expected to read in any book but it was deeply appreciated. This book has given me a lot to think about and I'm still not sure if recommending it to a friend may cause the implosion of her marriage during the first half.

This is a weird book, and I really enjoyed it. I did have to pause to process a particularly traumatic scene, but I wouldn’t say it was an unnecessary scene. It is dark, primal, and a strange insight into the role of women, female rage, and the power to overcome what is expected of us. I would say this is a feminist book, but it’s a feminist take you have not read before.
