This book is incredible. It is so much and everything more. I feel lucky to have read it. It covers graphic and difficult topics, but the plot has so much momentum I was able to move with it. It felt inexplicably real but just enough fantasy for it to be bearable- I don't have the words for what this book means to me in this moment. I think it is a special read that will stay withmee

3.5

This book has been on my radar since the beginning of this year when people were raving about the author's other book, The Deep. And I finally got to it. I didn't enjoy it as much as the other, but it was still extremely well-written and intriguing. I found myself enjoying Theo's perspective (for that brief time when they switched perspectives) better than Aster's. I also got major autism vibes from Aster, although those words were never used in the story. Also, the ending? Meh. That's what made me bump it down from 4 to 3.5. Still good, but not my favorite!
