This book was pretty close to the movie, a little more backstory on one of the main characters in the book.

Another summer fluff book and it lived up to my expectations. At times it was surely a page turner but otherwise, it was entertaining fluff.

I gave this a 2.5 I rounded it up. I REALLY wanted to enjoy this book, but it was boring!
I live in a small town, so I know that small event (fairs, carnivals, etc.) but they don't need to be described in every detail. Most of the book is written to describe the everyday life of these people in a small town; which isn't that interesting. The only part I found to be exciting is when Katie's ex-husband came to town to find her.
Katie is in an abusive relationship with a man named Kevin, she FINALLY gets the nerves to leave him and flees to a small coastal town in North Carolina. She meets this store owner named Alex, who has two children, and of course she galls in love with him; but she doesn't want to admit it to herself. Katie's afraid that Kevin is always on the lookout for her.
When Katie finally admits to herself that she loves Alex, all heck breaks loose.
It sounds like it should be AMAZING! However, the plot takes forever to get to a point where I would say that it's worth reading. You could probably skip a few chapters and still know what was going on in the book.

probably my favorite nicholas sparks story, i love it so much.
first time reading it through instead of watching the movie and im really shocked at how different it was. I feel like Alex’s character is completely different in the book with getting an actual background and depth to him.
also seeing kevins inner thoughts was extremely disturbing so look at trigger warnings and read at your own risk

Standard as far as Nicholas Sparks books go. Plus it doesn't hurt to imagine Josh Duhamel while you read it...

Great book. I had a hard time putting it down - wanted to know what would happen next. Can't wait to watch the movie. Hope it is as good as the book.
