Book #147 Read in 2015
Dear Pen Pal by Heather Vogel Frederick

I wish this series was around when I was in middle school and my mother was still alive; I think we would have enjoyed reading these books together. This is the third book in the series. A group of girls are friends and members of a mother/daughter book club. Each book focuses on a different group member but the chapters are told in alternating narration of all the girls. In this book, Cassidy's mother is having a baby, Megan's mother and grandmother are still fighting, Jess heads to a private school etc. These books focus on real issues faced by middle schoolers with the books that the book club is reading as a parallel story/backdrop. I enjoy these books.

I love this series. This is a great series for sixth grade girls on up. If you are looking for a realistic series about girls who have some realistic problems but nothing overly serious. Again the series ends with a pretty over the top talent show but it's one that you are willing to forgive because it is so adorable.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I felt like the second one was a bit of a let down, written quickly and a bit sloppily. But this book completely made up for he second one!!! I had ordered books #2,3,and 4 off amazon and after reading Much Ado About Anne, I definitely wasn't looking forward to Dear Pen Pal, especially considering it had 406 pages. But as soon as I picked it up and started reading it, I couldn't put it down!! I definitely recommend this book, especially to all my friends :)

Excellent series. The characters are great. And I learned about a new youth classic, Daddy Long-Legs, by Jean Webster. Can't wait to read it.

What can I say? I'm obsessed with this series! I don't know how that happened, but we're here now. I adored the pen pal aspect of this book, and of course this entire series is just a fabulous time. I highly recommend it!

I love this series SO much. Another fun installment of the adventures of the MDBC and it’s somehow just as good as the others!! I never get bored of these books - I feel like each one is so different in its own way and I love watching these girls grow up. I will say this one took me a littler longer to get through/I was slightly less engaged and that’s why I’m giving it a tiny bit of a lower rating. Truly cannot recommend this series enough though!!!
