A surprisingly endearing read considering the subject matter. It also requires you to release some common sense processing to enjoy it… It seemed very wild to me that no one once considered security cameras in the many kerfuffles that occurred in the hotel??? But that would’ve eliminated many plot points pretty quickly so I suppose it made sense to ignore that as a realistic solution. There were moments that felt repetitive and I did feel the author wanted to do a lot within these pages that wasn’t fully developed. However, I went into this read without many expectations so it kept me entertained throughout the reading experience.

In order to read and enjoy this book, you have to accept its premise as a farce. It is not trying to be realistic. The plot is over-the-top and revels in that fact. Once you accept that, the book becomes much more enjoyable and the flaws acceptable.
The author herself hopes that this representation of Asian American women is not stereotyping, and you're only able to follow through on this request if you lean into this book's humor and follow the writer on the question: what would happen if I accidentally killed someone and asked my aunties for help?
The audiobook is quite amazing. The ending is a little quick, but again, perfectly in tone for its genre (as a farce). Looking forward to the next book and the further auntie shenanigans.
