Ik vond de humor leuk, maar er was geen "adempauze" met al deze gebeurtenissen.
De romance ging mij ook te snel en was ongeloofwaardig.

Just too ridiculous. I like lighthearted mysteries, but it's just too over-the-top. For an Asian American main character dealing with wacky family and murder, I found Mia Manansala's Tita Rosie's Kitchen series to be better.

Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto is a comedy of errors where wedding photographer Meddelin Chan ends up accidentally killing a blind date and needs help from her aunties and mother to deal with the body. With several mistakes and hijinks, the body ends up at the wedding the Chans are working at - which just happens to be owned by Meddelin's college ex.

This book was a lot of fun in a campy, unbelievable way. There's wedding shenanigans, mistakes in texting, clashing aunties, a theft, and a cute romance. It isn't really a mystery, but there are some surprises along the way. I enjoyed all the inter-familial relationships tied into the Indo-Chinese culture.

It does also get a bit dark, what with the murder and all. If you are squeamish about any discussion of dead bodies and decompression, then maybe steer clear.

I do wish there had been a bit more conversation between Meddelin and Nathan in the present day, since the romance leans heavily on a few flashback chapters.

Hilarious and ridiculous and adorable. I have to admit that when the (accidental) murder happened, I at first was horrified at the idea of making light of it, but oh my gosh, within two minutes, I was laughing out loud and feeling completely ashamed for doing so. This was such a fun and goofy ride, and I immediately hopped onto the wait list for Sutanto’s other books at the library. What a delight.

This book was so fun to read, and I loved the pacing.
This story had so much love winding through it in so many ways. From Meddy and her aunts, Nathan, Jacqueline, and everyone in between. I can't wait to see what happens next. With all the love you almost forget this involves a dead body. Meddy and Nathan are adorable, and I really loved their story.
What I would describe as a rom-com Weekend at Bernie's.

Crying score: none

This book about girl, her mom, and her Asian aunties is laugh out loud funny. I listened on audible and enjoyed it from the first page to the last. Don’t sleep on this book!
