Why 4.75?
Duuudeee!
This was such a genre change for me and seriously it was so fun!
I never had to say - pick up up the book! , to myself!

Why not 5?
Well it was a litttle unrealistic and the plot could have been a little heavy but as this story was supposed to be light weight, i think this much stars are suited.

I wasn't ready to love this book as much as I did!  It was genuinely laugh out loud funny.  I never knew where this story was going, which made it an exciting read.  I love that there's discussion questions in the back, making it a great choice for a buddy read or book club.  I could tell Jesse Q. Sutanto put a lot of heart and personal experience in this book.  I'm a big fan of all of the Indo Chinese cultural references and every character felt authentic.  I can't wait to read the sequel!

Also the author mentioned a Netflix movie adaptation!  I haven't seen any status updates besides Netflix having the rights so I hope it gets made, because I would love that!

Missed the mark for me, which sucks cause I was really looking forward to it after Vera Wong

I know this was supposed to be a zany comedy of errors but I was just frustrated the whole time with all the stupid choices/actions. 90% of the problems and issues could’ve been solved if one thing had been done in the beginning of the book. I also wasn’t into the romance

I think this would’ve been better as an hour and a half movie, not a ten hour audiobook

Okay this was SO FUN there were so many twists I am obsessed. I love that there was some romance mixed in too. This was just so wild I loved it so much.

Almost as cute as Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers. Started out as what I thought was going to be a syrupy sappy romance, and I was initially disappointed after having fallen in love with Vera Wong - was hoping it was going to be more of the same. Glad I stuck it out. There were definitely a few small editorial issues with structure and continuity, but if I ignore all  that, it was funny and charming and fun enough that I’ve already taken out the sequel from the library.
