I really hate to write this, because I’ve loved Collins’s poems in the past, and it’s not that I disliked all of this book, but I felt largely apathetic to it. Many of the poems felt lazy and didn’t read with the spark I’ve read from his work before. Especially the new poems toward the end fell flat for me.

My favorite poet. I want to follow all my friends around in their daily life, reading each one of these like an important news broadcast.

Collins has this ability to take the mundane and make it marvelous. He does so here with as much skill as ever.

Wonderful to listen to. Billy Collins is one of my favorite readers. He reads his poetry in an almost understated way that supports the emotional resonance of his words. He doesn't outshine his words?--I can't quite describe it. Just head to JPL Overdrive (website, free) and take advantage of the special abilities of your library card. I'll think differently the next time I see a lanyard or view the alphabet. So many wonderful things here. Listen.
