except a few classics and [b:The Viscount Who Loved Me|861326|The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons, #2)|Julia Quinn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1379594308l/861326._SY75_.jpg|3363] (courtesy of my kathony brainrot) i havent read alot of historical romances, so that's something ive been wanting to do. then i found this book, saw that it had the "lessons in seduction/dating" trope which even though i never actively search for, i have learned that i always always enjoy, and here we are.

so glad i picked this one as the first read of 2024!

the lady gets lucky was the perfect combination of charming & hot. filled with interesting characters, all wrapped in the pretty little bow of an entertaining, well-paced plot. i really, reallyy loved our main characters. though alice had a wonderful character development from being a shy wallflower to a confident woman in control of her own life, there was one thing consistent from the start—alice had always had a good head on her shoulders. which i absolutely adore.

“She loved him, but she would not give up her future because of him.”

and kit. you sexy, kind, absolutely amazing charmer of a man. i hated how deeply he'd been affected by his father and all the insecurities he'd instilled into him. so watching alice stand up to her abusive mother, kit overcoming his insecurities and both of them becoming stronger and finding their own footing in the world was nothing short of satisfying.

This was an absolute delight! Kit and Alice were completely charming and I adored everything about their romance. They were such dorks for each other that I couldn't help but smile every time they tried to rationalize their feelings away. Joanna Shupe's writing is always engaging and I think this book is one of her very best. I'm also beyond excited for the next two in this series.

Surprisingly deep with good characters and a proper good plot. There is a reason why this nook is a favorite in the genre
