Grabbed me instantly, and exactly what I needed-- a post-apocalyptical dystopian without stupid cliches. I couldn't tell the direction of the book for awhile which was good, and the pacing was spot-on so I was dying to know what happened. Did I need to hear all the details about Juliette putting on and taking off suits, or pages and pages of fighting? No, probably not. But, that made the sections with all the twists and action even better so it was worth it! I didn't really connect with any characters or see much character development, but that wasn't really the point of the story? Really interesting dystopian concept.
But, honestly, HOW is this series ordered? Like, do I read Shift now? Will it be redundant? I'm confused.

I’m a sucker for dystopian/post-apocalyptic stories and this book was no exception. Although I think this is one of the rare cases of a tv/movie adaptation outshining the novel. The book is great and the message of human resiliency and dabbles into messages of class consciousness is one that speaks to me. However, the TV adaptation I feel gives a lot more depth to the characters and addresses the lack of world building that I thought the book was lacking. All in all a really solid book and great story but if you were on the fence about reading a 586 page book I would honestly suggest watching the show instead and coming back to the novel later.
Es un libro bueno. Lo que pasa es que es largo y le sobran mucha paja. La serie me pareció más maravillosa que esto.

I read this after watching the adaptation on Apple TV (Silo), which I highly recommend. The changes in the adaptation mostly make sense for transforming text to screen, though some of the changes I find a little unnecessary. One change I appreciated though was that the cast of Silo was diverse and I definitely didn't get a rich sense of diversity in terms of identities or sexualities in the original. Still, a fun, fast read, if you want a sci-fi dystopian page turner.
