What a weird book.
I am always (maybe unfairly) wary of a male author writing from the perspective of a teen girl. As a character, Frankie Budge doesn't fall into the typical pitfalls I associate with men writing from the perspective of teenage girls, but I still feel like Kevin Wilson missed the mark. This book is not very plot heavy and really relies on the coming of age story. However, I found both Frankie and (to a lesser extent) Zeke unrealistic characters. I can believe that this particular brand of weirdness could resonate with certain reader, but it didn't resonate with me.

Not my favorite Kevin Wilson book but it’s not bad. This is a unusual, well-written coming-of-age story of two outcasts who fill their summer days with a unique bonding experience that will forever be their secret and and be a part of their lives.
My biggest complaints are the sluggish vibes in the middle of the book, as well as how the main character never really matured despite growing into adulthood. I’d read it again, but I was left wanting more.

I feel like this book wanted the characters to be edgy but didn’t ever feel like they were anything more than overthinking teenagers who are obsessed with their version of the world one summer.
Paper Towns meets Going Bovine...for adults. So good! I read this book in two sittings, couldn't stop. Wilson's ability to describe the deepest truths of living, being human is excellent. I could hear Frankie tell the story, feel her anxiety and understood her awkwardness. I loved Nothing to See Here- another awesome story. Wilson's writing is unique. I'm a fan.
not my favorite Kevin Wilson but this hit a little close to home and I think in ten years I’m going to reread this book and love it a lot more
I think I was expecting more humor, similar to Nothing to See Here, and it’s not the same. However, it’s still a great story about growing up and the decisions we make and how those shape who we are.
