A little girl goes missing at a storytelling festival. Her world, and that of her parents is turned upside down.

The narrative alternates chapter to chapter from the girl,s voice and experience to the mother's. A heart wrenching tale that I would read again!

This was an engrossing book. Not thrilled about the premise (spiritual healing, fake or genuine) but it had me hooked anyway.

Started out great then got very boring. I wound up skimming through a lot of it.

A well told  story with loads of ups and downs. Devastating in one way but hopeful in another. It ended a little abruptly but I can sort of understand why. It was interesting to see the perspectives of both mother and daughter and inspiring to see the development of both as time went on -
they both became people the other could be proud of which was really lovely and made the ending okay because you kind of knew everything would be okay

Mt. TBR 2021: Book #14

I enjoyed this one. I was hooked on the plot from the very first pages. The book goes between two points of view - mother and daughter and is done so quite well. The plot was interesting as well and the author did a nice job conveying the emotions of the characters.

Suspenseful thriller about the abduction of an 8 year old girl into a religious healing cult by a man claiming to be her estranged grandfather.

Beth is still reeling following her divorce from Paul when Carmel vanishes at a children's festival soon after he reappears. Beth can't stop searching, believing her fear that she would lose her daughter has somehow caused this.

Carmel is very bright but has a tendency to get lost in her thoughts, which her mother and schoolteacher have both noticed, but is there more to it?

Heartbreaking to see the child accepting the lies she is told and will be interesting to read the sequel

Horrible! I couldn't get past 40%.
