The Lies: The Lies We Tell About Life, Love, and Everything in Between by Christina C. Jones
thisreadingcorner's review against another edition
Leaving my original thoughts below because I did DNF this before coming back to finish. In the end I appreciate the way the conflict was resolved between the coparents, even though it isn’t a dynamic I love to read about. I like these two together and I appreciated the depiction of mental health.
DNF thoughts: Something about the set up of this just rubbed me the wrong way - I wanted Iris to get a sweep you off your feet story and instead immediately it’s mess. This is someone’s real life, but not really what I was looking to read right now so I’ll just leave it here.

Well written tackles a great issue
Really enjoyed this story and all the issues it dealt with on all sides the whole single parent thing and the parenting relationship with couples no longs in a relationship. I believe she told both sides of this so well. Dealing with depression was a great bonus to this as well. I enjoyed the well placed love scenes and the relationship with friends turned to family. Great job CCJ

Loved the storyline
This was a great read and I loved Brandi storyline it was so realistic. I have not read a CCJ book yet that I haven’t given a 4 or 5 star rating.

This story follows Kyle and Brandi (Iris’s and Rob’s best friends). This book was a pretty good read. I like how Mrs. Jones touched on the mild depression that Brandi was secretly enduring. There was so many good things happening for Brandi but she couldn’t seem to make sense of any of it due to her mindset. I believe that the issue with Scott leaving for 10 years and not being apart of their son’s life really broke her heart and caused her a bit of PTSD. Whether she realized it or not she was never openied to allowing another man to get close to her heart after that. That is, until she met Kyle. Kyle had his own thing going on with his son’s mother Audrey. Audrey was so childish in her approach with everything. Instead of talking things out with Kyle, she went out of her way to make this man jealous and developed an entire relationship with their son’s pediatrician and it back-fired for her in end. Sure Kyle did his dirt, since he did indeed sleep with the teacher, but it was just a lot of toxicity!
