I think this has reframed and radicalized my whole perspective on loving, care, and abuse. At least I hope it has.
The story of Jacob at the end is weird feeling after watching angels in America so recently. But it’s beautiful.
The dynamics and pacing in this non fiction book is fascinating and transformative. It felt like watching the sun rise, fall, and rise again.
“Shame is like a wound made by an unseen hand… shame divides us from ourselves and from others… as long we feel shame we can never believe ourselves worthy of love.”
