there is always this something laughably inevitable about me giving olivie blake’s books 4 stars - even if i did not particularly… enjoy the story as a whole.

because how the fuck do you create a group of six the most insufferable characters, make them lovable but only on their own, create gideon - the absolute pleasure - and yet make the book purely tedious debates on, what, quantum theories? in lieu of giving it a proper plot.. and still make it more or less enjoyable. and, god, the cliches. and one of the more intricate characters gets annihilated.

and god only knows how fast i’ll reach for the next book once it gets released.

afterthought: if nico&gideon do not end up endgame i will most likely never reach for it. alas. having the last hours trilogy and its poorly executed ending flashbacks.

This one was abit of a grind for me; lots of angst and bleakness with little action or hope to balance it out. Nevertheless, I remain invested in the finale.
