I quite enjoyed this book in the end, despite the opening few chapters being pretty heavy handed with the subject material. It did eventually flow better with the story. I’m not totally sold on the resolution at the end but I am a sucker for a HEA so I’ll roll with it. Diversity and neurodiversity rep is great to see especially in the gaming context.

The third act breakup felt a little silly and forced to me. The book was super cute but I wished they talked a little more about the actual project they were working on because the payoff would have been a little more impactful when they announced it in the end. Also the story about her best friend being murdered was NOT given enough exploration and time. It’s been five years and they never found her killer and she’s just ~fine~ about it? It’s a lot unbelievable. I rarely think a romance should be longer but this one felt like it was missing chunks.
