This story is something that a lot of Black families can connect with. The story reminds me of my grandfathers childhood and possibly what some of my distant relatives experienced. There were moments that it was difficult for me to read but the story was well written and too compelling. I had to give it a day, but this book is staying with me.

This book was beautiful and so tender. It gave insight into the inner workings of how older black men from the south think and shed a big light on generational curses. It speaks on how important knowledge is, how knowledge allows us to look around, and realize we do have enough room to grow and change our minds. We're not limited to the narratives given to us as children. a real tear jerker!!
