This one didn’t capture my attention as much as The Troop. It did provide an unnerving sense of claustrophobia but because so much of it was more supernatural than realistic, it didn’t have the same horror effect on me. But some of the descriptions were pretty grotesque. I hate millipedes! Sometimes the writing style really made me cringe, too. I think I’m done with Nick Cutter for now 🫡

Elements of Event Horizon and Alien make this an enjoyable story. The horror is in the claustrophobia and isolation that set the scene.

Weird and dreamlike, which I usually enjoy but here I found it tough to follow.

Unlike everyone else, I enjoyed the first half more than the second half.

Gory, but that's not surprising for the horror genre.  I would probably enjoy this more as a tacky B horror movie than I did as a book.

There was more gory animal violence then I was expecting.  I agree with other reviews about the writing being grossly fatphobic.  Also, some repeated factual errors (like describing millipedes vs. centipedes) made it tough for me to fall into the story.

Realized this author was not for me. Grotesque descriptions of bodily horror involving both people and animals. I wanted more story than gross factor.
