A bit predictable but so adorable. What's better than two men who fall in love over books and Jane Austen in particular?

This sweet novella has some You’ve Got Mail vibes, but better. So much better. Alfie and Leo start off on the wrong foot in person at a Christmas party, but over the next year fall in love online - but they don’t know their true identities. When they finally relent and start to see each other for who they truly are in person, the attraction is powerful and fiery. A truly beautiful read that proves looks can be deceiving and people can surprise you in the best way! I loved this so much.

A gay version of You've Got Mail (or more correctly and more 'literary' it was inspired by the play "Parfumerie" by Miklos Laszlo). But it was better than the movie: Two cute guys, lots of sweets and a bit angst and conflict. Whereas the first book in the New Milton Series" was a gay version of Jane Austins book (and my favorite) "Persuasion", in this novella the characters found each other because of a joined love for Austen. Their love originated, evolved and resolved through a common joy over Jane Austen's books.
I have read a few Christmas stories in the last couple of weeks, but so far, this was the best.
“I’m okay,” he said, rolling into Alfie’s arms and burying his face against his shoulder. “Just…overwhelmed.”

I wanted to love this cute little book, but it started getting repetitive and and way too predictable. If you want to read just pure fluff, with an overdone story, go ahead - but for me, I think I wasn’t in the mood for it, sorry!

This novella is a delightful retelling of You've Got Mail and the original, Shop Around The Corner.

When I read novellas I often wish they were longer (if the story is good) or think they are weak due to lack of character or plot development. Love Around the Corner, however, was simply perfect. It was perfectly paced, had wonderful character development, and left me feeling completely satisfied. It's a master class in novella writing done right.

Highly recommended!

Kinda wondered how they could fall in love online when they never acutally talked about themselves...
But other than that it was cute and Christmassy so enjoyable nevertheless.
