The book that would never end! Started off pretty good, but lost it's edge pretty quick.
This is a book about acceptance and how we will deny things and hold on until the bitter end rather than accepting our new reality because we don't like it or don't want it to be the reality. It was a strong theme throughout the book, all the way to the ending that many other reviewers have remarked is surprising. It is, and it is not. It's more of the ending you don't necessarily want, but it is the ending. It is how it is supposed to be.
I don't normally seek out zombie/scifi books, but took a chance on this since it's about to be a movie and am glad I did. It reminded me why I took on this challenge--to force myself to try new things! The book did start rather slow (imho) but picked up after chapter 7 and for the most part stayed a steady pace. The last 20 chapters, you can't really stop, be prepared there!

So this story ended just the way I figured it would by about 15-20% in. It was totally obvious from the first few pages what the kids were, as well, even without spoilers. But, it was still a fun story and I enjoyed it. I thought the cause of the infection was a creative new take on the genre.

Interesting story and great characters, but there were too many logic holes that had me baffled. Like I spent way too much time thinking about the poor soldier who had to be in charge of grub farming, or wondering why lightning strikes didn’t seem to be a thing that happens.

zombieThe main characters were all interesting although I didn't really like any of them except the main character of Melanie they were all a little to single minded for my liking.
Overall I'd recommend it to anyone who likes thrillers, creepy kids and

I don’t have the words to describe how this book made me feel.
Started a little slow but the ending was worth it. I am experiencing so many feelings. So many characters to identify with, and to give us different perspectives and ideologies in the end of the world. So well written. This might be one of the most impactful zombie books I’ve ever read. I’ll remember Melanie forever.
