There was not enough smut but also not enough plot. If it was filled out a bit more and the ending wasn't so abrupt I probably would have enjoyed it more. It was very meh

Suspenseful. Never fully knowing till the wrap up. Good Character development, great spice. Prince albert and jacobs later *fans face* Def check triggers, miscarriage is discussed and at times detailed.

Sweet holy hell

What the hell did I read?! I should have known that anything by this author was going to push the limits. The blurb drew me in, just as all her books do. But this?! Holy titfire. This book was hot. Like Satans mistress hot. Like hotter than a Billy goat's butt in a pepper patch. I couldn't stop reading (other than a few times to fan myself or to check how many therapy sessions I had left for this year.I have three sessions left but meh. I'm not going to use them) I'm just going to finally admit that it's okay to like dark kinkery.

Leo. Holy hot sex on a stick. Add tattoos and piercings and it was game over. Abigail. She takes embracing your inner kink to a whole new level. Fricking loved it. I need more like this book. A LOT MORE. love that dark stuff. Jade hit this one out of the park.

It’s only supposed to be one night—rough, dirty, and dangerous—to sate Abigail’s deepest, darkest desires and make her forget. A primal game in the darkness, where he’s the hunter, and she’s the bait… if only life were that simple.

Based on the blurb and what little I could find online regarding tropes (which was, essentially, nothing), I was not expecting this to be such an intensely emotional read.  Beneath the obvious spice—which is incredibly well written—is a detailed, captivating, suspenseful, narrative that follows both the FMC Abigail and MMC Phoenix (Leo) as they navigate their complex individual experiences of trauma. The very fact that I read and sympathised with the characters through plot points/tropes that I try to avoid and which put me off a novel entirely if I'm unaware of them prior to reading (

) speaks to the quality of the writing and the story overall.
