it’s was a good story. the end was a plot twist

but i feel like everything was rushed at the end. like the build up was great and you see they’re relationship grow but the rest of the storyline is rushed at the end.

I'm still new to diving into the dark romance genre so I wasn't sure what I was expecting. However, I found the relationship between the two MCs to be very genuinely touching as they both navigated trauma and loss in their lives. There wasn't any nefarious game played between them, just two people that wanted to explore their fantasies of CNC and bring each other pleasure.

I was nervous going into this book since CNC doesn't always work for me. However, I really enjoyed this book because the CNC was not just done for shock value, and it went deeper into the characters' desires. Jade West did a great job making this more than just your typical CNC or smutty romance. I believed in their connection and character growth.

Abigail has escaped her old life after a trauma. She has dealt with great loss and betrayal, so she moved to a different town to start fresh. She has always had dreams about being chased. When she was a child, it was a monster chasing her, but as she grew up, it turned sexual. She has always had these desires and creates a profile on a hook up site to set up a CNC relationship. Leo started communicating with her online, and they set up a meeting to act out her fantasy.

Leo was such an interesting character who had been through such a horrible experience with his ex. His life is in shambles as a result of the traumatic death of his previous relationship. He is trying to raise his young son with the help of his sister. He is a scarred and damaged hero, and I loved the balance between their sexual dynamic and their daily lives and responsibilities.

It was beautiful to see how their dynamic woke them both up from living these depressing lives. They found something they needed in eachother. They honestly seemed like they were made for one another.

"Maybe a little darkness will turn us both back toward the light."

I think Jade West brought so much more to this story by going deeper into the trauma and damaged characters. This made me connect to the romance, and the scenes were

I love dark romance and I wanted to love this book so badly. I struggled to get into it. Not sure if it was the writing style, the not super likable FMC or the lack of dialogue but the beginning took me days to get through (normally I can finish a book within 48 hours). The good parts of this book are the plot and the male main character. I enjoyed the ending and was glad I stuck with it to see it through.

West has once again knocked it out of the smutty ballpark! I have always been a fan of the consensual non-con chase kink, but hadn’t really seen it done outside of fanfiction. I should’ve known that West would not only have a book focusing on it, but write it in a way that is mesmerizing and sexy af. At this point, you don’t even have to tell me a summary of her books, because as soon as I see her name I immediately click the download button. ❤️

This did have potential but the plot just kinda fell apart and then the book fell flat. There were so many ways this could have been taken to make it better but every turn was either predictable or lackluster.
