I thought this book was fine. It was written well and carefully controlled. The layered emotions are intense and interesting. I think I felt less engaged because it seemed really obvious to me, the whole story. I think it's because I think about my parents a lot and nothing in this felt like a revelation or a surprise. I reached the end and thought, "That was it?" But still. I liked it well enough.
