lord do i love reading abt priests falling apart! it cures my religious trauma ❤️, but i am going to critique this book and maybe this is because we didn’t get to see these scenes but i would have loved to see the NON-SEXUAL aspect of poppy and tyler’s relationship because to me it seems like he just fell in love with her just because of how good their sex was when i’m sure there was more but we didn’t get to see that and there is a clear difference between love and want and clearly this book imo was clear want. i wanted to see him and her watching the walking dead, laughing and other stuff that couples do. i kinda got tired of every other page being smut but overall, i did enjoy this book and i will be reading this series!

I now have a love hate relationship with this book. It was amazing….until the last chapter. I’m still mad at Poppy for that ending. Epilogue was good though. But that last chapter had me wanting to throw the book across the room.

Okay so the book is mainly smut-driven & I'm not huge on "we just fuck and do some pillow talking & now I'm in love with you. I did enjoy reading about Tyler & his struggles etc. And he was just about the only likeable character (with the granny, Millie I think?). Neither cared about nor liked anyone else. Being close (for no reason) to the love interest is legit the 'villains' only redemption arc. Weak. If it was just smut without anything else (no blackmail, no de-priesting; we're in it for the priest afterall) it would be great.

ALSO SPOILER ALERT?? idunnowhatsgoingon

Was she pregnant at the end?? Like I thought so?? But did they say it??

I’ve had beef with organized religion, and especially the Catholic Church, for a long time. The fact that this book is about a Catholic priest abandoning his vows for a pretty potential parishioner had initially steered me clear of reading it but the TikTok reviews about the spice had piqued my curiosity. This book is so steamy — mostly because there is so much of it that is taboo or not allowed. The God stuff I could take or leave —- but the spicy parts? Gimme a bunch more of that. 🔥

Why did I even finish that book?

It was just bad. I know it's my fault for choosing this, but I wouldn't have thought that the crash between spice and church would be THAT bad. Spicy Scenes and praying at the same time? Why? Also without bible knowledge a lot of passages don't make a lot of sense.

I kinda liked Poppy so I don't want to give the worst score... but Tyler? It felt like the author thought: "Mhmm... I need a Hobby to not just make him a cut out flat figurine... Ah let him just mention The Walking Dead a lot and that's it."

Also. The thing with his sister.
I wanted to read a spicy book with some romance... why did the sister had to be abused and had to commit suicide?
It was just sad and didn't add something to the story. It's a story about a priest "falling in love".... why add so much trauma?

And the end felt just absolutely unnecessary.
The months apart. Him going travelling. The search.
I can live with obvious endings. Of course. But unnecessarily spaced out... just to make the book a bit longer? No, thank you.

The only thing about the ending was a bit of her POV and that it was finally the ending.
