I now have a love hate relationship with this book. It was amazing….until the last chapter. I’m still mad at Poppy for that ending. Epilogue was good though. But that last chapter had me wanting to throw the book across the room.

I picked this up after hearing so much about it on TikTok.
“Priest” the smutty romance story about a priest, and one of parishioners. Tyler may be young, and very good looking, but he has decided to devote his life to God. Everything seems to be going fine for him, until a new parishioner, Poppy, temps Tyler in every way. Now he has to choose between the life he has built, serving God, or a life with Poppy.
Tyler Bell sounds like such an amazing priest, not because he is sexy or young, but he has such a beautiful way of looking at religion. He truly wants to change people’s perspectives about the Catholic Church, and he wants people to experience the beauty and love that God can offer them. I know that is not the main point of the story but I really appreciated this.
I really did not like Poppy as a character. She had a lot of flaws, and I think she epitomizes the concept of a toxic woman. She seduced Tyler and made him question his entire life. She knew how much he was falling for her, and she felt the same way, but then, when he was ready to give up everything for her, she threw it all away. She left him without so much as a word, and the lack of explanation is just unforgivable in my opinion. Tyler was such a good guy, and in spite of how Poppy treated him, he found his way, and he continued to work to find his life‘s purpose. I feel like he could do so much better than Poppy.
Overall, I think this book is very well written, but it does flirt with being a little much. I do think the author handled the content matter with grace, and I do not think that any religious aspects were brought up in a manner that were outright offensive. With that said, the nature of this book may offend some people. I do think the author is incredibly talented, and I do intend to read more from her in the future.
I do recommend this book if you are I interested in a super sexy book about a priest.

I loved the subject of the book and the spiritual aspect incorporated into their love. Love.

This book was not the best. I went into it hoping I could imagine “Hot Priest” from Fleabag but I couldn’t. Father Bell, from this book couldn’t be more far away from Hot Priest from Fleabag who was superior in every way. This Father Bell character was just Disappointing….

I personally wasn't into it. As a person who is not religious I found Father Bell to be absolutely ridiculous. As well as Poppy, so that’s why I found a lot of humor in this book where I don’t think there was meant to be any…. Oops. I found both characters to be really annoying and stupid and I disagreed with most of their decision making.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in some intense kinks like:
anal, BDSM, slut-shaming and being spoken to in a very degrading way, and revenge porn. Also I found the sex between the two characters was always very violent and so if you’re into that then this is for you.

I do not recommended this just to someone who found this on TikTok and just wants to read a 4-5 spicy pepper book. It’s not a realistic or healthy relationship and also it’s a bit too intense if you’re just starting out, but that’s just one gals opinion.

I had seen glowing reviews of this book from a BookToker that I follow. (No shade to them whatsoever, I'll still follow and pick up their suggestions.) Sierra Simone's writing was supposedly lush and beautiful, and that was main selling point. It was compared to... And I can barely say this... Madeline Miller.

...No. NO. Absolutely not. Can you swear on this app without getting flagged?? Fucking, No.

In case there's any doubt about my personal icks, I absolutely do not care about the context of clergy in erotica. That'd be totally fine with me if well crafted. But this is not for people that loved Fleabag's season 2, because the characters were flat, poorly written, and actually vile. Now, the writing itself was... Fine... whether or not that comparison pisses me off or not. It was fine, but so lazy. The... Love interest? Sex fantasy?... Was written for a misogynist ONLY. Absolutely no.
