Just - WOW!

I am a complete sucker for heroines that fall for big brother's best friend. But there was something so completely different about this story. Their struggles were real, their chemistry was through the roof, and the conflict was personal, and unexpected. Can't wait to dive into Jason and Megan's story!!

To be honest, I went in expecting not so great things instead I was blown away by an amazing story. I started this book sometime last night, people starting a book right before bed is NOT a good idea, but I REGRET IT NOT ONE BIT. I couldn't stop reading it. Once I dove in there was no coming out until I got to the end. it was that amazing. I won't say anything else other than read it and make up your own mind towards it. I, myself, LOVED IT!

Ok

This was just ok for me. I liked the overall story but the details got kind of boring for me. I found myself skimming a lot.

My first 5 star read of 2020!

And let me explain why. I don't usually write long reviews but I read a couple of other reviews and one thing stood out to me that others didn't like that were reasons WHY I liked this book.

1st ~ Flow. This book flowed like liquid. The writing was so flawless, detailed just enough not to be drawn out, that I literally devoured this book without realizing it. The depth of description of just a simple look actually made me see and feel the words. That's an amazing feat for me.

2nd ~ Dean's self-hate/depression. Now this is where I saw others making remarks that kind of upset me. Quite a few reviewers mentioned it seemed the romance was one-sided and that Holly did most of the chasing and Dean was uninvolved. NOT TRUE. Good grief, I felt his emotions. I felt his self-hatred. The thing that stood out the most is what I call Zombie Status. As someone who has personally experienced it, it exists. I've had 2 episodes myself where I go emotionally zombified. I felt literally nothing. I did things and said things with no emotions. It was horrible. Both episodes were triggered by extreme stress and heartbreak. The description of what Dean was going through was exactly how it felt. That was so real to me and so profound because he acknowledged his issues and started dealing with them.

3rd ~ The Steam. Good. Grief. THE STEAM. This book had me squirming lol That never happens. The sexy scenes were freaking hot. HAWT. The passion and connection between Dean and Holly was phenomenal. The book was hot and heavy, but the romance was always there and it started a lot earlier than both realized. I'm so glad Holly loved Dean as much as she did. They are literally perfect for each other.

So there. That is why this was a 5 star read for me. The words leapt from the pages, the emotions were raw and so damn real, and the book was 10000000% hot and filled with sexy.

Julie Kriss is just SO GOOD with emotions. “Bad boys” aren’t just one-dimensional; Dean is kind and caring and needs care for his own needs.

The word for this couple: UNAPOLOGETIC. It came up at one point, and it really defines why they’re so appealing. No BS. Just love. And hot, HOT action. The kind of stuff that’s like, “seriously, even 24 is not enough experience for that kind of confidence.” But I didn’t care. See again re: HOT.
