While this is obviously (by the title alone) a very cis feminine focused book, I found there to be a great deal to think about from it for anyone of any gender who is or knows someone chronically ill. It has really inspired me to heal my gut biome, among other things, and I thought I would strain my neck with all of the nodding in agreement I did at the beginning of the book. While it did seem to be VERY overlong, I'm definitely glad I read it, as it has inspired positive changes in how I'm approaching my chronic illness.
I would recommend the audiobook over a written copy, with some breaks to read other things, because it is indeed a LOT.
I don't necessarily subscribe to ALL of her ideas about health and wellness, gender, cultural differences, etc., but it definitely gave me a lot to think about and the shove to make some changes.
Approach with an open mind and you may find something to take away from it too :)

The Lady's Handbook for Her Mysterious Illness is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in early February.

Ramey recalls her painful personal story in a kindly and precautionary way before going into what had been done to resolve it, as well as similar stories from other women. She's an awesome, witty woman whose mysterious, loosely autoimmune case has been sifted through the hands of a doctor to a specialist’s, back and forth, over and over again. However, the frequent blippets of monologue surrounded by page breaks gives an impression of someone circling around a dilemma and speaking of it in a TED Talk fashion or a set of serialized articles/documentary episodes. That being said, it's the reason this was left deliberately unfinished.
