I'm not sure why it's still considered a classic. Characters are constantly contradicting their own motives. Sometimes the leader abandons his friend for the sake of the journey, other times he goes on side quests despite the timelines his journey. It's dull and flawed. Fun fact: they do not travel by air balloon.

I am a huge Verne fan, so maybe I'm not the most objective to review any of his books, but this one is just plain fun. It has everything you want in an adventure-tale. There is no mistaking why this is a classic. Everything you think Jules Verne is is here in this story.
