I absolutely adored So Late in the Day, so I had high expectations for this one 👏🏼

I didn’t love it as much as I loved the aforementioned story by Claire Keegan, but I still found it very interesting. There will be content warnings included below, of course!

I really loved Furlong too 😳

3.5 out of 5 stars for me, thank you ✨

It was a hard book to read with the content, but it has made me curious to learn more about Magdalene laundries

Despite its short length, this book is  impactful. Will definitely reread once I’ve researched more about the true events that inspired this. Looking forward to exploring more of Claire Keegan’s works!

I was pleasantly surprised by the content. The book cover was clearly deceiving. Picked up this as it could be read in a day but clearly it will stay in my brain for longer than it supposed to be.

Masterful, gentle writing. Dark and grim but never loses hope. Refreshing to see literary fiction that shows human kindness and isn't just misey porn. Keegan really gets into the heads and hearts of her characters.

Another lovely work by Keegan. A sad, but hopeful, incredible Christmastime story.
