Another lovely work by Keegan. A sad, but hopeful, incredible Christmastime story.

Stunning. So vivid with such economy of language. Sheds a light on the awful abuses committed on young mothers and their babies in the name of religion but without laying it all out in great detail. It was very powerful and strongly evoked a place and time as well as a character (Bill).

A quietly intense story about responsibility, empathy, and family, set against the backdrop of small town Ireland and the history of the Magdalene laundries.

Extremely atmospheric, melancholic but hopeful at the same time. It was a perfect read for Christmas.

The last third was so moving. I began highlighting passages. And I want to revisit them again. So many thoughts stirred by this novella. I hope to read more from this writer in future
