The whole time I was reading, I really wasn’t sure if I liked the book. I didn’t know if I liked Coralie and Adam. I liked everyone else, I just wasn’t sure of the main characters. It wasn’t until their problems came to a head and I saw how they dealt with them, that I realized I was invested.

Whew. Really liked lots of parts of this book, even though certain aspects were surprisingly triggering (early parenthood, figuring out how to be married AND have jobs AND have young children, and everything relating to the initial COVID lockdown). As an American, the UK political overlay was both interesting and confusing at times. I was surprised by how many of the candidates I did actually remember, but also confused by a fair amount of the related procedural talk. Overall, it was an engaging book with great character development, even if a lot of them were not people I’d choose to be friends with in real life.
