Really well written which kept me going through the" pray " section which I found got a little too self-analyzing for my general tastes. All in all though I found her story interesting and wanted to find out how her it ended. The settings were what intrigued me most but I do have a "suck it up" kind of mentality when I read about people who are sad and struggle to find happiness type stories...still I would think a lot of readers would enjoy it. The whole meditation/chanting cave part got a bit long in the tooth.

i probably should have researched better before i read this because i didn’t realised until i was a decent way through that this is in fact a memoir and not a piece of fiction… and this fact greatly influenced my opinion, because i was not going into it w the intention to read about someone’s inner turmoil and journey dealing with their problems, but rather a nice story about a woman travelling and indulging herself. and so, i felt like the first two thirds dragged too much for me because they were so heavily focused on her inner experiences. i enjoyed the bali third as it was more her actual experiences travelling and living in bali, however the last two chapters dragged a bit again… 🥴

This took me a while to get through, which is unusual for me. But I found the book at the exact right time in my life. Dealing with pain and confusion, I connected immediately to Liz’s quest to find herself and to achieve some kind of balance in the chaos of life.
I had to slow down and re-read parts of the book that really spoke to me, especially the part where she sits on a beach and examines each sorrow, anger, and shame in her life. So powerful.
4.5/5 stars

I honestly do not know how to evaluate this book. The Eat part was great. The Pray part made me angry. The Love part was nice. Read if you want.

I got bored... I made it through Italy and actually kind of liked it. Then I just got bored and did not finish the book
