The fact that I predicted Matthias’s death not because I am smart but simply because I don’t have enough friends for halloween for six characters so I killed off Matthias makes me feel really accountable for his death. ( For what it’s worth Matthias, I will never recover from your death and is now paying the consequences for saying ‘you had to go’)
At least I didn’t bring your grandmother into this.

Dare I say, I preferred the first book. Now hear me out!!! I felt confused most of the time (maybe it’s me, maybe I’m the problem) - the plans didn’t make sense to me, there were loose ends, & can some explain why Matthias had to die from this random ass druskelle boy? How did he even find them after they traveled on a boat? And how did he escape said boy and stumble back to Nina? Idk seems a little forced if you ask me. I will stand on business when I say Nina is ~that~ girl & she deserves the world (or her own book).

Basically picking up right where Six of Crows left off, Crooked Kingdom is basically just More Six of Crows but Done Slightly Better. The twists narrative slights of hand are better seeded and more fulfilling as a result, and the internal journey for some of the characters were really well developed. Sadly, a lot of the more interesting parts (for me anyway) in Nina`s new powers and the random New Assassin felt underdeveloped, or at least not explored as much as I wouldve liked. Overall, though, definitely liked the duology and liked the 2nd book a bit more than the first.
