Tell No One

Harlan Coben

3.82 AVERAGE

First Coben book that I've read. It's really good - fast paced, with lots of twists and turns and snappy dialogs. The mystery was compelling, intricate and to me totally unpredictable.

It's just that once you start reading Harlan Cobens books you notice the pattern; and then the whole surprise element is gone.

Still on it's own this book was great, actually it'd been turned into a movie.

This is really different from the type of thing I usually read on my own, but it was intriguing. It held my interest. You really don't suspect the truth until the very end!

8 years after Dr. Beck’s wife was murdered, he gets a mysterious email with a message that could only come from her and he’s not allowed to tell anyone about it. He then goes on the hunt to find out what happened and if she’s truly alive.

This was a very quick read. It wasn’t bogged down by a lot of prose, but was very dialogue and action heavy while also focusing a little on the relationships between the characters. The suspense builds and builds with a few twists throughout. It had a lot of details about the intricacies of crime solving at the time i.e. ballistics, DNA, etc. I can see how, at the time it was published, this book was very technologically savvy. However, all of this feels very dated now. It’s not dated enough to be quaint (i.e. if it was from the 80s), but so dated as to feel weird reading about it now.

Eight years after her death, Dr. David Beck is still grieving the loss of his wife. Then the impossible happens, Beck is given reason to think Elizabeth is alive, but they are both in danger. Beck doesn't know what is really happening or who he can trust in this engaging novel. I had to suspend disbelief for a few things, but it is an entertaining, fast-paced book with a satisfying ending.

I read this book years ago and really liked it. The second time around was very blah. (Not counting that I knew the twists)

Funny how you click with certain books at certain times.

This finely crafted thriller will keep you glued to your beach chair as you try to figure out how a man whose wife was murdered eight years ago suddenly sends him an email containing information only she would know.
