I did give this 5 stars. I did so because I completely overlooked the complex Christian comparisons and read it in a fairytale-like tone. I sometimes refer to myself as a non-Bible believing Christian. I also say I'm agnostic, because I kiiiinda think it's impossible for us to know whether or not divine beings exist. With that said, the writing in this book (and the others) is simple and the storyline moves rapidly. I did not find it "preachy" at all - its truly just a magical story intended for children, and those of us who've reread. Love it!

frightening or hard to understand topics so gently so that children can enjoy it thoroughly.
I personally love child protagonists who are treated with the importance of any other protagonist. I can see why it’s so beloved - it would be very affirming to have read this as a child and to have connected with the siblings and their bravery and kindness.

C. S. Lewis managed to do a very creative fantasy adventure, with relatable characters. But that doesn't get the level of epicity that it potentially achieves as a result of hasty situations.
The story follows four young protagonists and how they become involved in a war (after escaping from one), which they conform to even having the opportunity to return home (the quick and conflict-free way in which they accept their situation seems unreal to me). Still, the characters are well written and lovable, not just the protagonists.
The plot is very well structured and the result is very convincing. But after the hardest moment in the book, everything is solved almost out of nowhere (the fall of the villain, the difficulties of the position of our heroes, the war itself).
That gives me to understand that the most important thing is the twist of the script that, is true that it serves its purpose. But does not seem so remarkable as to give it the power to resolve all conflicts.
In spite of everything (and even if it doesn't seem like it) I liked this book. It convinced me (although not at the level of the distant memory of the film). And I plan to read its sequels. I don't know if I'll ever read them all.

After Eric and I had discovered that we both own unread copies of The Chronicles of Narnia, we decided to do a little book club and read each of them.
I was gifted it as a singular book from Nanny and I’m thrilled that I’ll be able to count each individual book (7 total, yay!!) towards this year’s reading challenge, lol. And I’m sure she would also be very happy to know I’m finally reading it… 7 years later.
I like that I’m able to quickly read each of the books, however, I definitely struggled to make the adjustment to the elementary reading level.
