I enjoyed The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe more as an adult as I did as a child. The beauty of the story is in its symbolism and simplicity. I really enjoyed how the battle scene lasted little more than a page and how Lewis focused more on a winning narrative than being bogged down with action or lengthy descriptions.

One of my favourite books as a child, still holds up pretty well as an enjoyable read. It’s a bit sexist (just that one quote where Santa Claus refuses to give the girls swords) but it’s of it’s time and has far more strong female characters than Tolkien
