The allegory in C.S. Lewis' masterpiece series may be too literary for a young child to identify but the spirituality it conveys transcends typical religious stereotypes anyway. While there are some faults (especially with sexism and racism), an educated reader will put these criticisms aside (it was written in a vastly different time) and enjoy the magic and mystery that Lewis weaves into his prose. The sense of hope, love, and family that these books provide is as strong and beautiful as has ever been written in the English language.
