I know the film by heart, but that didn't prevent me from feeling all the emotion of discovery when I read this novel. My heart raced, my tears flowed, shivers ran through my veins. What an adventure, it was amazing.

the movie is pretty good, but this book is better
This is a near-perfect example of what a movie novelization should be. Good pacing, nice additions to fill in gaps between scenes, and a whole new layer of depth to all of the characters. Still cried at the end, even though I knew what was coming. Recommended reading for fans of Rogue One and Star Wars.
The novelizations are great because they give a bit more context to some of the more complex scenes and you get to see perspectives that aren't necessarily present in the movies. I liked hearing more about Krennic's motivations and the inner thoughts of people during crucial moments, like Jyn and Cassian in their final moments on the beach. You even get some inner turmoil from K2. This was wonderful and I love Rogue One so much.
This does what a good novelisation should do. It enhanced the movie by giving you insight into the characters that a visual media simply can’t do.
It is a good exploration of this characters and their motivations, and really captures them as people. If you are Star Wars fan it’s certainly one to read, if you are a rogue one fan… it’s a must read!

As far as novelisations go it’s a faithful adaption of the films narrative with compelling and unobtrusive additions to the narrative which is impressive given the books time of writing had to have been close to the end of production for the film where a novel is expected to accurately reflect the plot of an ever changing post production cycle.
The sound effects alone make this worth listening to as an audiobook.
