Average novelisation of the film. No surprises, no big extra scenes, but some interesting fleshing out of the characters, which adds depth to the movie. There are also a few interludes with technical memos, and one in particular gives a humorous and totally believable insight into the imperial bureaucratic mindset behind one of the film's main plot points.

The majority of this book is tactical combat and long descriptions of battles and very little character development, relationships or even character interaction. I couldn't help but wonder if any of these characters do anything except work? For the majority of the book characters seem artificial since they don't to need rest, eat, or use the restroom- they just keep working and fighting.
